We’re often told that anger is something we should try to let go of. That it’s destructive, dangerous, and has no place in a peaceful life.
Easy to say. But when you’re in it, and it’s burning in your chest or sitting heavy in your gut, letting it go isn’t always so simple.
It’s true that if anger goes unchecked, it can spill out and cause harm to others and to ourselves. It feeds old patterns, stirs up conflict, and takes a toll on our bodies and minds.
But anger in itself isn’t the enemy.
Like fire, anger can burn everything down. But controlled fires clear space. It makes room for new life to grow. Quit trying to bury it, let it go, or throw it away, and ask what is it here to tell me?
Fire energy is raw and loud, yes—but also full of truth.
Sometimes it shows us where our boundaries were crossed. Sometimes it points to what we deeply care about. It can push us to speak up, to make change, or to protect what matters.
Anger isn’t something to fear. It’s something to listen to, it gives us free energy to work with. It’s powerful fuel if we learn how to hold it, rather than let it hold us.
“Anger is like gasoline. If you just throw it around, it burns. But if you harness it, it can power a whole journey.”— Unknown
So if you’re feeling angry, don’t be in a rush to get rid of it. Sit with it. Ask it what it’s trying to show you. Let it move through you, not take over you. And then, let it guide you forward, with intention.
“There is a candle in your heart, ready to be kindled.
There is a void in your soul, ready to be filled.
You feel it, don’t you?” — Rumi
Sometimes, anger is the spark that lights that candle within you.
