“When you possess light within, you see it externally." – Anaïs Nin.

Initially, when I began writing this newsletter way back at the beginning of September, I was sitting taking notes in a coffee shop in Edinburgh Airport about to embark upon The Camino De Santiago, a spiritual pilgrimage of 500 miles through Northern Spain.

The experience of the Camino brought back the memory of the iconic Proclaimers tune from the '80s. On completing the 500-mile journey I was left with a sense of complete surrender, and like the song I nearly collapsed to my knees at the end by the doors of Santiago de Compostela Cathedral.

But I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be that man who walk a thousand miles to fall down at your door

It was exciting to embark upon this unknown journey and uncover the profound life lessons ahead. As usual, God surprised me with perfect timing and the insights that continue to follow.

The Courage to Stay Open-Hearted

While enjoying a cup of tea before boarding the flight to Toulouse, I glanced up and noticed the picture above the title hanging on the wall. It depicts two doors, one closed and the other open, allowing the light of day to flood through the windows. It came as a gentle reminder before the trip that to be truly spiritual, the heart must always remain open to surrender to God's plan, and yes, even more so when people are rude or mean-spirited- I know it's not always easy.

We often judge someone when they don’t align with our values, and project our values onto them, yet when we do this, we judge some part of ourselves too, what we dislike in another still exists in us.

We can choose to remain in spiritual darkness with our hearts closed off, or we can always surrender to love by opening our hearts to let the light shine through.

I was inspired to encourage each of us this week to do our best to remain open-hearted, and always ready to give and receive the energy of love. No one is perfect or succeeds every time, what matters most is that we try our best.

1 John 2:9 If anyone claims, "I am living in the light" but hates a fellow believer, that person is still living in darkness.

Our voyage on the spiritual path means there can be no turning back, as the path always keeps evolving. While many may not be able to grasp what you're experiencing on this journey of discovery, that's alright. You will understand yourself better as you continue to expand and grow along your path.

Matthew 7:7-8
“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened”

Much love to you all
