A very warm welcome to this Tuesday's newsletter, where cosmic jokes and divine redirection are being served.

God, your higher power probably has a fantastic sense of humour. Allow me to share a little story, and maybe decode a few “cosmic jokes” that are sometimes thrown your way to keep you humble and in check. So grab your morning coffee (or holy water!), and let’s enjoy the twists and turns of faith, challenges, and everything in between. God’s already got your roadmap, we’re just here for the ride.

Is God a Comedian?

I love a sprinkling of biblical wisdom and how it can be applied to our reader’s everyday lives. It’s one thing to deliver the word, but quite another to always genuinely live by it. I'm human, like you, having an earthly experience, I mess up too.

Often, you're subtly reminded, usually in a funny (but not so funny) way who's really got hold of the steering wheel. It is a humourous reminder to always come from that place of knowing “nothing” and remaining "humble".

"Humour" Through Surrender

Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." - I will add a bit to the end of the verse —"Otherwise God will continue dishing out cosmic jokes until this verse resonates."

A little story..

Recently, I walked 500 miles on the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage. Before embarking on the journey, I was shown in a mind's eye vision that I would be provided with the "fuel" to further my work. Leaning on my understanding (mistake) I thought I’d start a fundraiser, but I soon recognised trying to fundraise on the Camino really detracted from what I needed to encounter on the journey.

Certain stretches of the Camino proved to be exceptionally difficult. On the final day, we faced severe weather conditions; we were shivering and drenched, with a shortage of decent food and many miles still to go. The last 40 kilometres brought the harshest weather yet. Our ponchos, clothes, and footwear were drenched by the rain, and our faces were whipped by the powerful wind. During the worst of it, the concept of "surrender" came to me for the second time on the way of the Camino.

Value In Surrender

There's value in surrendering and not leaning on your understanding. God, your higher power already has you covered—and sometimes, when it gets tough it's all too easy to forget that. Life will present you with a few cosmic jokes in the form of humbling challenges until you realise, yet again that "surrender" is the path forward.

Thanks for the cosmic jokes. It’s funny how we often have to learn the hard way. What’s left to do but laugh and say, “You know what? Thanks. Hilarious. I love You. I surrender.”

Conclusion

  1. Reframe “Challenges” as Teaching Moments
  • When things don't go as planned, try to view it as your higher power’s way of playfully redirecting you
  • Ask yourself "What's the lesson here?" rather than "Why is this happening to me?"
  1. "Humour" Through Surrender
  • Sometimes all you can do is laugh and surrender
  • Trust the bigger picture often reveals itself later
  1. Turn Your "Blind Spots" into Humour
  • Find some humour in how often we think we know better, only to discover a different and more beneficial outcome later that serves our higher purpose.
  • Use these moments as humorous reminders that sometimes our best-laid plans aren't necessarily the plans for our highest growth.
