The Cost of Fast Success
The world is littered with the ashes of overnight successes, ventures, pop stars, and celebrities that once shone very brightly and yet burned out just as fast as they arrived. People can be like moths to a flame, easily tempted towards the promise of quick riches, successes and instant results, and yet rarely does that leave anything memorable or of lasting value behind.
"Unless the Lord builds the house, they labour in vain who build it." - Psalm 127:1
Understanding Energy Types
Think about all the people you have met. Some of them shine bright like beautiful fiery torches, with infectious, powerful energy, whilst other energy types glow gently, offering you a guiding, steady warmth instead. Both types can fuel greatness.
Some people you meet can leave you feeling drained of your power supply. That's why it is important to place yourself amongst people who have good energy and to have the self-awareness to know when you can unconsciously be a draining influence on others too.
"Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another." - Proverbs 27:17
Finding Your Perfect Recipe
Your life venture's energy works in the same way as you do. Enthusiastically going full-blast at the beginning might initially feel exciting, yet it's often unsustainable long-term and can eventually leave you feeling burnt out and wanting to quit.
A new venture is a little bit like being a great chef who needs to prepare an amazing and complex dish; the secret always lies in the preparation, sourcing the right ingredients, the cooking temperature, care, texture and flavours.
While others might serve up fast convenience for quick results, when living your purpose and higher path for your life, becoming who you need to be and reaching your highest potential means creating something wholesome, long-lasting and valuable. At each stage of the process, you must become who you need to be.
The Recipe for Lasting Success
What is the best recipe for lasting success? Slow-cook it. Let your vision develop naturally, and add the ingredients as needed. Quick profits might sizzle success initially, but they often leave nothing more than burned ashes and smoke behind.
True success, like the best-cooked and most satisfying meals, takes care, lots of love, sweat, tears, starting from scratch again and time to prepare. If the venture initially fails, then each time you learn a new lesson, try adding another ingredient or taking one away. The key is to keep going, keep learning and never quit, don't forget to take time to pause and reflect too -You will get there!
"The beginning is the most important part of any work, for that is the time at which the character is being formed." Plato
